We pack light! |
This year we took our annual bike trip from Maryland to Leesburg, VA. This June started out as a hazy hot humid bear, but by last week it had calmed down significantly.

Breakfast oats! |
This time around we had the benefit of our copy of—the slightly out of date—DC bike trips book. It helped get us out of Annapolis quickly; a feat never before accomplished on this familiar excursion.
We packed light again (a little heavier than usual) and got everything on the back of hubby’s vintage Raleigh, leaving me to carry the extra weight of the iPod camera and sun block. I know, it’s not fair.
We began at Starbucks—I have finally capitulated. This was a ubiquitous early morning spot for this year’s trip. We had tea, coffee, and or oatmeal at the chain practically every day. The starbucks oatmeal consists of:
- 1 serving of oats (made with water)
- 1/2 serving each of dried fruit and mixed nuts
- a splash of milk (skim, whole, or half & half)
- a pinch or two of brown sugar
- a dash of cinnamon ..
Mmmmmm! That's how to start a day!
