Covid-19 and Us: Stay at home Wk.5

We volunteered again this past weekend. It's only four hours or so, but it feels good to be helpful. So far, there are no symptoms in our household and we're thankful for that.

This past week we saw news articles and social posts about anti-stay-at-home protesters rallying in their respective state capitols. Not only am I completely in shock about this, but I'm actually embarrassed by the actions of these folks. Congregating in large groups is a good way to help this virus spread (or any virus airborne virus, for that matter). It feels to me like a blatant disrespect and disregard for the sacrifices of the healthcare professionals who risk their personal well-being on a daily basis. I'm saddened that when I read news of different locales around the globe, people with less resources and privilege are sacrificing to lessen the Covid-19 impact, and here--in this rich nation we choose to ignore safety guidelines. I have shaken my  head, muttering 'hubris' so often I have a crick.

In the midst of all this. Two close neighbors took their time between working from home, gardening, and staying safe and healthy themselves, to make hubby and me a care package. They sewed us a pair of matching cloth face masks (with removable nose wire, to help them fit snug), and popped in a few single serving adult beverages and left the bag on our doorknob.

This has been a tough week, emotionally. However, we are safe, we are loved, and we are together.
