England 2025: Manchester

Technically it's Day 3

I caught the train from Euston Station in London, to meet Emma at Manchester Picadilly, for an epic day out. We planned to eat in at the world-mentioned Kingfisher chippy in the Northern Quarter, then take a self-guided street art tour.

Perfectly fried haccock and chips, battered saugage and chips, with a side oc curry sauce and mushy peas

If you don’t know about the Manchester art scene, it is filthy with tags, graffiti art, slaps, mosaics, and full-on building height murals. While it’s not the City of Angels, it is not to be missed!

We grabbed me a fish n chips platter…still a meal too big for me to finish (and I keep forgetting to order a small or child-sized portion)...and Emms had the battered sausage n’ chips. After a hearty meal, we hit the cold, cold streets. Temps today are hovering around 30° F/ -1°C. Anyway, armed with the mobile app, Street Art (around the world), we grape-vined our way across the northern quarter, criss-crossing our path several times, and eventually stopping for tea and coffee twice!

Ezra and Gill, cafe mocha.

At the first hot-drink pause, we were given complimentary mince pies by the barista, as it’s that far past Christmas, they needed to get rid.

So we had drinks and snacks. Emms had the best Mocha she has ever tasted at Ezra & Gill Cafe. I must admit it is beautiful

Eventually Emms took her leave of me, and I walked back to the Hampton Inn by Hilton. The hotel was fine, nothing to write about, but cute enough, if a bit cold (I had to call down to the front desk to have my heating turned up from 20° C to 26° C,in order to get some sleep).

my nightsand in the hamptin Inn. the hotel didnt impress, but dig everythign I expected

In the AM, breakfast was waiting for me, along with a dining room filled with airline travelers who had to be put up, while on their way to Hamburg Germany. I had a lovely chat with 2 or 3 of them, before their taxis began coming to pick them all up at around 7am. Hope they made it to Hamburg!

As for me, next stop Whitby!
