England 2025: My Favorite Italian

 Good Fare Italian Restaurant

Caprese salad, or tomato, hand pulled mozarella, fresh pesto and basil, on a white rectangular plate

I awoke to another day pregnant with possibilities, in a newly renovated room on the 4th floor of the President Hotel (I need to find somewhere else to stay one day...ha. this is my 5th time!). Anyway, I'll admit to taking an early morning nap after breakfast. That was probably all of my jet lag, which was pretty mild this year.

A glass of grenache being poured.

When I finally made it out--feeling like I've thwarted jet lag--I strolled through Camdentown  and hit three of my favorite places: (1) the Mind charity shop, (2) the art supplies store on the high street, and the (3) Goodfare Italian Restaurant, nearing Regent's Park!

GoodFare is my favorite LDN thing to do (and yes I've been to the London Eye, taken a river cruise, and spied Big Ben). This family Italian restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ingredients are fresh, pasta is handmade, and service is as good as it gets. Today, I lunched. Caprese salad, Penne in a spicy red sauce, and an espresso for afters. I started with the house Grenache, which reminded me that I actually like other grapes and blends!

Penne Arrabbiata, detail of the meal in a bloe and white bowl.

The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce had the right amount of fire. As for the caprese, it was both crisp and soft, with a generous helping of fresh pesto and basil leaves. Mway! Chef's kiss!

Okay, I foresee a long-term problem. If I only eat here 1-2 times a year, then it'll take me 17 years to sample everything on the menu!

Another excellent meal 😋
