New Orleans 2025, part 2

NOLA Art Walk. It rained all yesterday and most of this morning. Now the streets are swampy steamy and the sun takes his vengeance. My traveling partner just had a great idea, 'let's walk two miles in the height of the day to see a sculpture garden.' The retired fire fighter, Gary son of Belinda, we meet at Treme Coffee suggests we take Esplanade, an historic tree lined boulevard boasting excellent architecture. Okay, I'm in!
Esplanade is indeed beautiful, many houses have expansive tree well plantings, as well as earthen and potted plants. Religion is everywhere.
As we walk in the still quite warm day, we come upon a grocery store to hit on the way back.
We enter a traditional Creole cemetery and I am treated to a statue I've always wanted to see, mother Theresa is now Saint Theresa. Stories of her good works were the soundtrack to my childhood.
We passed the Degas House ( yes, that Degas). The sculpture garden showed me even more treasures.
Then it closed abruptly and we walked back 2 plus miles to our hotel to have a soak in the pool.
And dinner was empanadas on the sidewalk, cuz why not!
