New Orleans 2025, part 3

The joy of clothes!!
This morning, Jen and I listened to hubby play a bit of music in Louis Armstrong park. His sweet rhythmic horn playing kept the geese and ducks webbed toes tapping. Anyway we left him in his element and walked toward Treme Coffee on St Philip.
There we ordered our individual lattes (iced caramel for her and hot oat milk for me).
But before we arrived the place the order, my head was turned by a sign boasting my 2 favorite words 'free' and 'clothes'. We made a beeline for 4 large racks of women's and men's clothes, paralleled by 4 long tables of shoes and accessories. Before rummaging through, I chatted up the attendant. It turned out that she works for the local government doing community outreach and that those clothes are meant for the large unhoused population of New Orleans who inhabit the area. I was a bit crestfallen until she said to help myself. She didn't have to offer twice. As me and Jen perused the racks, I asked about her work and whether things seem to be trending better or worse. It saddens but doesn't surprise, that the answer is not positive. However miss Renee will continue to host clothing events, and invite residents and visitors alike to come to the community center.

For me, I tried not to be greedy and took only 2 of the finest items on offer: a linen and lace sleeveless top and an African wax print knee length skirt.

When we got our coffees, I drank it in slowly, tasting every bit, i was warmed and smiling. Free clothes have an wonderfully energizing effect on me.
Renee really inspired me with her spirit of community service and selflessness, I thought about our talk for the whole day. In fact I was warmed by every conversation with every local I have ever encountered. How did this country, with its sordid and sad history make such a wonderful breed of human? I love NOLA.

What do you think about global majority focused instructional design?
